Ted rated it really liked it Feb 04, Once the PCs arrive at the various, appropriate levels that are described in detail, the encounters therein are rather humdrum. The fiendish tyrant had vanished from his northern empire in Mordenkainen’s youth, leaving savage humanoid hordes and diabolical societies in the ensuing power vacuum. This chapter provides a rough outline of the castle’s history and structure, with a basic map of its levels and some suggestions on what dangers and treasure each contains.

Rachel rated it liked it Jul 23, Under an oath with Zagig, Mordenkainen vowed never to enter grwyhawk depths of Castle Greyhawk, but through researching Zagig’s tomes, Mordenkainen only recently found a possible clue to Robliar’s betrayal hidden deep inside the ruins.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Mordenkainen had expected Rary to betray him sooner or later, but not Robilar, who was his trusted ally for decades. These false Iuzes threw the nations into turmoil and brought savage armies across civilized borders. Chris rated it liked it Jul 19, You see, the PCs have an appointment with the God-Trap, Iuz and the false Iggwilv and they cannot be allowed to derail the plot either.
The game provides a list of random encounters freyhawk each dungeon level, generic dungeon maps left clear of content, and numerous side quests to help the DM along the way and keep the adventure flowing.

Again, this is unsatisfying. The fearless swordsman geyhawk adventure with the enthusiasm of an addict, often venturing into Castle Greyhawk on highly dangerous solo missions, facing every challenge with a wide grin and a clever rejoinder.
In the course of three complete dungeon levels, the PCs discover the villainous plans and thwart the general’s ambitions, only to discover that other agents of Iuz lurk elsewhere in the castle — beyond locked doors requiring a key once possessed by Zagig himself. The heroes of Oerth are villains on Uerth and they have found a way to crossover, giving Greyhawk new villains who are tied to the setting through their well known counterparts.
